Just Tell Me What You Want Me To Do
I'm convinced the average follower of Christ can't possibly live up to all of the expectations put on them by the church, and that it is even harder for someone just beginning their faith journey.
Craig Groeschel said it this way: "I wonder if when someone comes to church if they don’t feel a bit overwhelmed. Depending on the week, they’ll probably hear a combination of:
- Don’t drink alcohol.
- Join a small group.
- Go on a mission trip.
- Be nice.
- Give us your money.
- Read your bible.
- Don’t listen to bad music.
- Come to our membership class.
- Help our kids’ ministry.
- Stop cussing.
- Pray with your family.
- Win the lost.
- Did I mention don’t drink alcohol?"
This is exactly why the pastors at Granger are asking the church to Focus on Five. We really believe that if every person (non-believer, new believer, and seasoned follower of Christ) will just do these five things, they will grow in their relationship with Christ and in their love for others.
