I Love the 80's
Tonight we launched our I Love the 80's series at Granger. We borrowed the series concept idea from Elevation Church, and repurposed it as a series on money management and giving.
We have very specific and tangible results we are praying for as a result of this series...
- Hundreds of people will begin to view their possessions as God does.
- Our hearts (which God says are connected to our treasures) will be softened.
- The number of people who have set up automatic tithing online will triple from 163 to over 500.
- Our weekly giving will increase by 25% following the series.
Tonight was a strong beginning with some tremendous 80's music and strong teaching by Dave Ramsey. Here is what is coming the next few weeks.

I loved tonight's service. Good times!
I think tithing on-line works well for some people, but not me. I know I would forget about it and it would be more like a bill being paid than an act of worship. I love writing the check and being reminded that as I'm giving God my gift he has given me I'm trusting him to take care of me. My tithe check is the first check I write after getting paid. I don't forget or think twice because I've "decided in advance." I like the physical act of giving the gift. I need the reminder that God provides. I love that God creates us all differently.

Just a quick data point: Some of us are using a recurring (and non-changing) payment system that exists outside the GCC system. I've been using CheckFree since 1990, back before Windows was a viable OS.
I'm not saying that the goal isn't worthy to increase the number of recurring gifts in the GCC system; rather that the 163 count underestimates the current activity, possibly by a long shot.

I love it! Probably because I love the 80s.
Nice work.

That's cool, we actually did an evangelistic series last October called I Love the 80s. Great minds think alike :)
