When You Can’t Trace His Hand, Trust His Heart
When I was 15 or 16 years old, I discovered New Song–a “Christian rock group” as they were known at the time. Their music gave words to me as an introverted teen who didn’t know how to express what was going on inside. A song called Trust His Heart was especially helpful to me when a teacher and close friend was killed in a car accident. I’ve never forgotten the words.
It has all come back to me again in the past couple weeks as we’ve been facing pain as a church family, and as my personal family is facing some difficult days ahead. When you can’t trace His hand, trust His heart.
All things work for our good
Though sometimes we don’t see how they could
Struggles that break our hearts in two
Sometimes blind us to the truth
Our Father knows what best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim
And you just don’t see Him
Remember you’re never alone
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart
He sees the master plan
And He holds our future in His hand
So don’t live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him
We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry
He’s weaving you and me
To someday be just like Him
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart
He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don’t understand
When you don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
Trust His heart
Trust His heart

Hey Tim,
I watched the video of Mark giving the news – very wise wise leader. For all your critics (+ I was one!), let it never be said that GCC is a church that does not take sin seriously.
Praying for you as you help lead the church, the staff + your family

I, too, take comfort in the song you mentioned above. It is SO TRUE!!! I pray for our staff – almost daily and I will keep your family in my prayer specifically at this time too, as well as our church body! Just remember in each circumstance, God has our backs. I've learned to pray lately for God to lead us away from temptation and to deliver us from the evil one! You know, Satan just wants to trip us up to hurt the cause of Christ. However, I remember that God has our backs, and he is good – all the time!!! I'll keep praying for your family and for our church as a whole!

My wife sings this song I like it a lot. But New Song and Rock Group should never be used in the same sentence. If they are a rock group I guess my wife is as well
