“Son, Where Have You Been?”
That's what my mom asked me today. She said, "You haven't written on your blog or tweeted much lately."
There are several reasons my mom's question makes me happy:
- She cares about me.
- She reads my blog.
- She used the word "tweeted" in a sentence. Yes, my mom is savvy about social media!
Well, for my mom and others who might wonder, I've been working every spare minute on a home construction project. That is both good and bad. It is good because I can't explain how much I love working on such projects. They wear me out physically but fill me up emotionally. It is very therapeutic.
But it's bad because I haven't had much time for blogging. My part in the project is moving from physical labor to managing contractors–so look for my content to be revived next week.
So, for me, home construction projects bring me energy. What does it for you?

Since home construction would be extremely dangerous for me, I prefer to ride my bicycle. Nothing recharges my battery like a good sweaty 20-30 mile ride.

My history of home construction projects is picking up the phone and calling someone who can actually do the work right! I am pathetic at that sort of thing. My wife does a better job than I do.
On the topic of your Mom, I think mine is the same. She doesn't tweet, but sure is aware. I tell people Facebook was made for her. She's 86!

Home projects definitely energize… From design to turning the idea into reality- it screams fun! Just finished building to built-ins on either side of our fireplace- Made my wife smile big! That is what I most love about it is the joy it brings to my wife when she admires the finished project.
I have learned to keep her involved in the process from start to finish and together something evolves we can both enjoy. It does stop progress in other areas because it is easy for me to get wrapped up in the project.
Looking forward to your posts next week!

Landscaping! I love getting in the dirt, creating something of beauty with God’s creation. And… I love doing it barefoot. There is nothing better than the cool feel of soil on my feet. Freeing and spiritual.
